Happy Belated Earth Day!
As many of you probably know, yesterday was Earth Day. There were many things on TV, radio, and the internet telling us how we can all be more "green". I never remember Earth Day getting so much coverage as it did yesterday. One thing I have noticed that some stores are offering to make us more "green" are the canvas bags that we can purchase and then use them instead of plastic or paper bags. I have been thinking about buying into these bags... when I come home from Walmart I have lots of plastic bags that I bag up and put in our recycling bin, I already have plenty on hand for odds and ends around the house. Question: Have you all considered switching to the canvas grocery bags as oppose to paper or plastic? Tell me what you think about the new canvas grocery bags. (Let me know you are reading my leaving a comment about Earth Day)

I noticed that Publix encourages people to bring their plastic bags back to the store and re-use them that way.
How many canvas bags would have to buy to carry one week worth of groceries?
By the way, GREEN did appear to be big this year for Earth Day. There is much more awareness about it recently. Even HGTV's latest "dream home" is a green home in the Mt. Pleasant, SC area!
I'm not sure how many it would take for a weeks worth of groceries.... I'm guessing 10-15 bags, I've seen them for $1
Sounds like you are getting into the 'Green' thing. The media did a good job making all of us aware of Earth Day. I am also wanting to take my own bags when I shop but I am not remembering to take them in the store...one time I did take my own bag in but I am going to work on doing it more often. I have some canvas leftover from covering my cutting table and I plan on making a few bags. Have you thought about getting some inexpensive fabric and making a few and try taking your own bags. I to have way to many plastic bags and Salim is right Publix makes it easy to recycle them as they have a bin right at the front door.
